First, the superior designs are hand-modeled in plaster. A mould is filled with the finest quality vitreous china clay; sourced from Cornwall, which is famous for its award-winning porcelain. A team of skilled craftsmen then polish and shape each piece by hand to ensure a smooth surface. They then apply a high quality glaze. The components are then fired in a purpose built kiln.
When the components emerge, each one is carefully inspected. The craftsmen even perform a traditional resonance test, by listening to the finished porcelain! This involves tapping on the pieces and listening to the sound each one makes, ensuring there are no hidden defects, and that the product is of the highest possible calibre.
