Award-Winning Speargrass House

Speargass House from Sumich Chaplin Architects and Arent & Pyke is a luxurious Queenstown family home

Designed by New Zealand architects, Sumich Chaplin with interiors by Sydney-based Arent & Pyke, this stunning project is a collaboration which has won acclaim on both sides of the Tasman. Nestled into the outlying hills of Queenstown, Speargrass House has been designed to reflect the strength of the terrain and the rawness of the elements while being accessible to the magnificent views of the mountains. The interiors complement the landscape with their natural beauty and materiality; a family home where boys can play.

Perrin & Rowe Callisto kitchen tap features ergonomic levers and 360° rotating spout. Perrin & Rowe's spray rinse kitchen taps are popular and highly functional, making light work of washing dishes, rinsing vegetables, and filling pots and vases. The durable 1.2m hose offers virtually unrestricted use.

“Sarah-Jane got to know us so intimately as we had great open communication. She really understood our kids’ practical needs having her own.” – HOMEOWNER

Each of the bathrooms in the home share detailing upon their walls of varying band widths, mingling with intricate tile arrangements. As a stack of travertine, glazed tiles and marble, the layers of texture convey a whisper soft sensuality enhanced by the gentle flicker of sunlight upon their surfaces.

A pair of wall mounted basin taps were specified from The English Tapware Company.  Our tapware is made to last. Each item is carefully designed and manufactured to the highest quality by Perrin & Rowe in England. Made from solid premium grade brass, they are extremely durable and will not rust or corrode. All plated finishes are electroplated with a coating which is a minimum of 20 microns to give many years of lustre.

Wall taps maximise the available bench space, allowing this family additional room to spread out and organise their bathroom essentials.

The Perrin & Rowe Contemporary Example Shower Layout C1C includes the handshower on sliding rail controlled by a pressure balanced shower mixer. Handshowers on sliding rails are ideal for a growing family, and excellent for easy cleaning around the shower box.

The pressure balanced shower mixer means a consistent flow even if taps are turned on and off elsewhere in the home.

“The home isn’t a museum. With four young boys it couldn’t be precious and gentle!” – HOMEOWNER

The Water Monopoly Rockwell bath offers relaxed bathing with a mesmerising view. The soft curves of this timeless bath and the Hawthorn Hill towel warmer balance the straight lines of the vanity and mirror. Contemporary tapware by Perrin & Rowe was selected for the bath filler, basin taps and shower.
