Recently launched in New Zealand are Perrin & Rowe’s Triflow taps – an all-in-one, three-way kitchen tap with filtered water feature. Triflow taps, with their groundbreaking internal workings, are the world’s first three-way taps, dispensing hot and cold tap water, and also pure filtered drinking water. With a simple flick of the additional Triflow lever, cold tap water is filtered at point of use and on demand by a high quality under-bench filtration system. To prevent cross-contamination with the hot and cold tap water, the great tasting pure filtered water is delivered through a dedicated waterway in the tap’s spout.
Each filter tap, is supplied with a complete filtration system, including a filter cartridge from leading Swiss water treatment company, Katadyn. The Katadyn filtration system is positioned under the bench in a highly durable stainless steel housing connected with braided stainless steel hoses. For homes receiving water from their local authority, we suggest using the Katadyn carbon filter, which removes dirt and impurities, foreign particles and chemicals such as lead and chlorine from the water supply. For homes collecting their own drinking water, we suggest the Katadyn ceramic filter for additional treatment. With a fine pore size of 0.2 microns and a bacteria inhibiting silver core, this filter removes the vast majority of dirt, impurities, microbiological organisms and chemicals from the water supply. While these filters remove undesirable substances and odours, health enhancing minerals like magnesium, calcium and fluoride remain. Katadyn recommends each cartridge is replaced every six months to ensure the continued health of the filter.
